You may want to
accelerate your pace of learning a little faster than once or twice a
week and this is where the jive workshops will help you. Held over the
weekend, they generally last some 4 hours and are an intensive class

Beginners
The
aim of the course is to give you confidence dancing the beginners’
moves. Anyone who has done
less than 5 or 6 lessons will find this course very useful.
There are 3 beginners’ workshops each having 10 of the 20
beginners’ moves—they are colour coded as red, yellow and blue so
that you know which you have done.
With
a maximum of 10 men and 10 women there is plenty of time for personal
attention from the instructor. In
a very informal atmosphere, we will teach you 10 Beginners’ moves in
detail and you will also spend some time on improving your
“freestyle” dancing and learning some essential basic dance skills.
Intermediate
The
aim of the course is to improve your freestyle dancing and expand your
moves repertoire. You will
need to be confident with all of the beginners’ moves to get the most
out of this workshop. There are 3 intermediate workshops each having 10
of the 20 beginners’ moves—they are colour coded as orange, green
and pink so that you know which you have done.
With
a maximum of 10 men and 10 women there is plenty of time for personal
attention from the instructor.
In a very informal atmosphere, we will teach you 11 Intermediate
moves in detail and you will also spend some time on improving
your freestyle dancing and learning some essential basic dance skills.
The workshop also includes a session on improvisation, i.e.,
creating your own moves.
Blues
If
you are feeling the urge to spice up your regular rhythm routines with
some broody blues, languid lassos and cute cuddles, then this workshop
is for you! You will improve your repertoire of modern jive intermediate
level moves with some smooth style and a bit of blues. This
is your opportunity to learn some of the more classy, intimate
moves that will boost your style and confidence.
Style
It ain’t what you
do, it’s the way that you do it! Many people think you become a good
dancer by learning lots of moves – sorry, that’s wrong!
You improve your dancing by improving the way that you dance.
This workshop will teach you a number of simple ways that you can
add a touch of flair and a flowing style to your dancing.
Latin Fusion
You will be
taken through some of the fundamentals of Latin dance and will revisit
such areas as posture, balance, timing, musicality, leading/following
and communication. You will
also be taken through selected, Modern Jive moves combining them
with Latin footwork and Latin style to create an expressive, vibrant and
sensuous dance experience.
8beat fusion
As the name implies, fusion
(dance), weaves together moves, patterns of movement and footwork from
whichever dance style more appropriately/naturally lends itself to the
music being played. The workshop is designed to:

From Modern Jive into Latin/Blues/West Coast
Swing, the workshop involves analysis, preparation, positioning, dance
technique and footwork, musicality and ‘move-melding’ to facilitate
a personal, dynamic and exciting dance experience regardless of musical
genre.
